Another reason to hate American Express

I have always hated American Express.  Their policies and interest rates are ridiculous. They charge an annual fee to have their credit card.  And people pay it!  That's what kills me.  I get mail from them constantly saying I've been preapproved etc. How can that be when I haven't had a job since 2005?  I don't even open the mail from AMEX anymore. I tear it up and toss it.

Anyway, I got an American Express gift card for my birthday. What a money making scam for AMEX.  First off, there is a $3.95 fee to buy the card.  After 12 months, they charge a $2.00 a month fee and remove it from the remaining balance until it is gone. They charge $5.95 to replace the card if you lose it.  I can request the balance in a check, but there is a $10 check fee.  There are a few other fees.  WTF?

There should be a government branch that regulates bank fees and other bullshit fees. And if there is one already, then hopefully once the monkey who is in the oval office is out, we will have some leadership and someone who will put a stop to this rampant corporate fleecing of America. We as Americans are nickel and dimed to death with bullshit fees.  I'm sick of it.  Like the Cingular/AT&T upgrade fee.  WTF is that? They charge you to upgrade your phone? It's like the cable company charging you a fee because you bought a new TV.  Or the gas station charging you a fee because you bought a new car.  Such bullshit. I still want to get together a class action suit against them, to get a refund and to make their upgrade fees illegal.

I mean how much money do these greedy companies need? How rich do the greedy shareholders need to be? How much money is enough?

So the lesson here is, give cash.  Cash doesn't lose value.  There are no fees if you don't use the cash.  If you want to give a gift card, make sure there aren't any fees etc.  If there are, don't buy it.  If we all stop buying the cards that have stupid fees then they will have to change their practices and policies.

Now everyone can practice by sending me some cash.
