2 Years

Also, November 11th was my 2 year anniversary of quitting smoking.  Yeah for me!  Ow! I hurt my arm patting myself on the back.

Back to reality

So I'm back from St. Kitts.  It was a good trip.  It was sunny and about 85 degrees everyday.  I was at the beach everyday from around 11-ish to 4-ish.  I would have lunch brought to me on the beach, or go to the beach side cafe.  Then, after dinner, I went to the pool until around 9 or 10.  I went snorkeling for the first time too.  That was pretty cool.  It was a very nice way of life that I was really getting used to.

First class was pretty sweet.  I got a nice hot lunch for free, on real dishes.  I had a 4 cheese calzone with a salad.  And it was good!  The coach people had their choice of a turkey sandwich or a chicken salad. I highly recommend First Class if you can afford it. It will probably be the last time I will be in first class, cuz I'm not paying to sit there!

Now I'm home and I'm back at stupid work and it's dark and cold and rainy and I have to wear shoes and pants and underwear.  Everything is terrible.

Vacation

Well I have been working now for four weeks. I've been showing up everyday on time (for the most part) and without calling out, so I figure I deserve some time off.  So tomorrow I'm off to St. Kitts for a week.  It's about 85 degrees there right now, sunny and warm. I can't wait.

I told work that I'm only working there to pay for this trip, and when I return I will most likely quit.  Working kinda sucks.  It is cramping my lifestyle. And they changed my hours to 7:30 to 4.  So I have to get up even earlier!

Oh I almost forgot. Thanks to my other various trips, I have a bunch of frequent flier miles and "status" on US Air.  So on the second leg of my trip, I automatically got upgraded to First Class for free.  From here to Charlotte I am sitting in an exit row seat, which is a premium seat, and from Charlotte to St Kitts I'm in First Class.  I'm very excited about that.  I want some God damn perks! I want to be pampered!  Piss on those pretzels they give the peasants in coach!  I want something good.  And lot's of it!  And they better shut the curtain!

I will try not to be too tan when I get back.

News story

Read this story, and pay close attention to the end.  It's ridiculous.  Yeah moron, that's the United States' master plan.  To infest rivers in desert countries with killer sharks. With freakin' laser beams on their heads.

And that was a teacher talking! No wonder that country is so F'ed up.  Uh there's a 75% chance that he (or she, I can't tell by the name) will be raped by a camel.  I hope so anyway.

First day…

Well I survived the first day.  It wasn't so bad.  I am annoyed because they didn't have a computer or cubicle for me.  I'm in an empty cube that is going to be occupied by the guy that is currently in my future cube.  It looks like he had no idea I was even being hired, because his cube is a total disaster and there is no way he's moving out of there anytime soon.  And I have no idea why they don't have a computer for me.  I spent most of the day setting up a new notebook for a training room.  Don't know why they didn't have me set up a computer for myself.

My co-workers seem kind of fun. Both of them. A guy and a girl. There are three people in my area including me.  And the girl is part time.  The other side of IT are the mainframe people, and there are three of them.

Working full time really chews up your day.  I mean it's 9:30 pm already, and I haven't even turned on the tv yet today.

I've decided to go back tomorrow.  The first day is always rough when you start anywhere new.  Well except at my last job because we usually knew when new people were starting and had a computer for them.

Also, here's a weird thing. The CEO doesn't like when guys wear crew neck t-shirts under their collar shirts or polo shirts, so we aren't allowed to wear them.  Only v-neck t-shirts. It's a pet peevee or something. Which I think has got to be some kind of discrimination thing.  I mean what's next? What if he said that he doesn't like brown shoes or brown people?

The upside to everything is that I only have around 30 more years to work.  Yeah!  If I'm lucky I will hit the lottery, and then I can write this from my own island somewhere warm and sunny.

The final hours

Well it's 9 pm on Sunday the 14th.  In just a few hours my life as I have known it for the past year and 9 months will be over.  I really can't think of a better definition for "This sucks." The job itself won't be bad, and the "going back to work" part isn't that bad, it's the "getting up at 6 am 5 days in a row" part that really licks the nads.

Actually, I'm kind of looking forward to it.  I forget what it's like to get a paycheck, and to have some sense of a purpose, and to be a consumer. I feel so un-American because i'm not buying things that I don't need.  I've had my car for over 5 years now, and all my computers are woefully outdated.  But I really don't NEED new ones.  It's just not the American way!

Well there's nothing like starting all over again.  Back at the bottom.  No money, no vacation, no seniority.  Sigh.

Anyway, I will try to write tomorrow after my first day of work since 2005.

The end of an era…

Well all good things must come to an end.  I got a job!  I start October 15th.  On that date, it will be one year, nine months, and one week since my January 6, 2006 termination date.

The job is doing pc and helpdesk kind of stuff.  Like my last job.  It's for a credit union that's about 15 minutes from my house.  I'm loving that. I hate commuting long distances to work. The money is crap, but it's more than I'm making now. There are many positives to working there, money just isn't one of them!  The hours are 7:30 to 4 or 4:30, I'm not sure yet.  That might be a problem, considering I roll out of bed between 10 and 11 on most days.  And have been doing that for one year, nine months, and one week (and even before that. Who am I kidding?)

So certain people I know said they were going to start a pool to see how long I last.  Not having a job or money for so long will make me really appreciate having a job and money.  So I won't screw it up. So you all can suck it. :-)

Though I'm not changing the name of my blog page just yet.

Today is…

Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day!  WTF?  For real?  Arrr!  They should have International Angry Pirate Day. (definition of Angry Pirate can be found here.  So funny.)

I still do not have a job.  I went on a second interview at a credit union very close to my house on Monday.  I think it went well.  I never can tell.  She didn't seem put off or annoyed or anything.  She said it's between me and some other schmo.  Hopefully he will find another job, or get arrested for kiddie porn, or show up on "To Catch A Predator", or just die so I can get the job.  I want it really badly. They are supposed to set up third interviews this week or next.  My endless days of leisure might finally be over.

HBO has started playing the old seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm.  That show kills me.  I have always wanted to watch them all, but wanted to see them in order.  HBOC has started showing them all, in order!  They started after the new season began, so I have a new Season Pass on my Tivo. It saves me from buying the DVDs.

Otherwise everything else is the same.  It's been really nice lately.  Fall is here and it has been awesome sleeping at night. I still have my soft top on, and have had the windows off for over a week now.  It's been absolutely perfect weather.  Winter will be here soon and I will be pissed and miserable.  But for now I really can't complain about the weather!

There is still time to send me money.

Long time, long post

Geez time flies.  I didn't realize it's been so long since my last post.  I doubt anyone even bothers to check here anymore.

Well it's September 11.  It still doesn't seem real or something.  I wish I saw the Towers in person so I could really understand how big they really were. I have been to Ground Zero, but that's no help because it's just a giant hole in the ground.  I figured I would see them one day.  Who knew.  Kind of makes you want to make sure you do the things you want to do NOW, because you never know if it, or you, will be around to do it tomorrow.

Anyway, let's see.  I might actually be getting a job soon.  I have a second interview for a credit union that's about 15 minutes away (roughly 8 miles according to mapquest) from my house.  So that's a good thing.  The first interview was a little weird. The guy basicaly told me about the job.  He asked a couple topical basic questions about my experience and that was it.  So I wasn't expecting a call back.  Supposedly it's a very low-stress, low-pressure, relaxed, friendly environment.  It's a private company and they aren't obsessed with firing people to make a couple of rich asshole investors more money. No BS. No foreign offices. No retards in sales offices.  They have company picnics and a holiday party.  They appreciate their workers and treat them nice.  It seems almost too good to be true.  There has to be a downside.  I'm sure the money sucks.  But considering I have a negative income right now, anything is better than nothing.  Plus paying for health insurance is ridiculous. So I will keep you posted.

Yeah someone needs to fix the health system.  Why is everything so expensive? I mean, was it like this 25 years ago and I just wasn't aware of it? There has to be something that can be done to cut the shit.  They need to stop the drug companies from advertising and brainwashing Americans into thinking they have various diseases and need their miracle medication. They are selling the disease and the treatment.  Cuz we all know they don't produce CURES anymore.  There's no money in curing diseases.  I'm all for socialized health care. There should at least be a reasonable national plan that you can get when you are unemployed (ahem) or poor.  The f-ing rich get richer and the rest of us suffer. The U.S. needs another revolution, this time against the rich and the politicians.

On to other things, Britney Spears at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).  First off, she did not look bad or fat.  I thought she looked good for having two kids and a very public breakdown.  I wouldn't have worn that outfit, because she seemed very self-conscious in it.  And it opened her up to every a-hole in the world (who thinks that stick figure Paris Hilton has a hot body) to call her fat. The performance itself was a mess.  I think she could have showed a little more interest and exuded some energy and excitement.  She was like "Ho Hum. Right foot here, left foot there, cross my arms..." Maybe she had stage fright?  I felt embarrassed for her. The song wasn't too bad, it's typical Britney.  But she should have tried.  It was her comeback performance, her moment to prove that she still has it and really isn't a mess.  She seemed to have proved the opposite.

As far as the rest of the VMAs, I couldn't watch it.  It's so annyoing.  It was a bunch of different rappers all yelling into microphones in 'crowded' hotel rooms etc (I read how it was all staged to look crowded).  It was so not interesting or entertaining.  Utter crap.  I tried to watch it, I really did.  I'm so tired of the whole rap thing.  It needs to go away now.  And it needs to take Kanye West with it.  I mean, his outburst at George Bush about Katrina was hilarious and well deserved, but that's all I ever need to hear from him again.  He's a big whining baby who constantly plays the race card whenever he doesn't get his way. I won't even get into all the times when he has acted like an asshole, because who has that much time.  Sarah Silverman's comments after Britney's performance were very awkward, mean, and generally unfunny.  I really enjoy her show, but her stint at the VMAs was awful.

MTV should call it a day.  The channel isn't relevant anymore.  They never play videos.  It's all stupid STUPID reality shows, and stupid dating shows, and whores on parade, and 'look how rich i am' shows.  It's a total crap factory. If the Real World wasn't in Sydney this year, I wouldn't have a reason to put MTV on. I couldn't tell you the last time I watched MTV (before Real World Sydney).

Sometimes I think I'm just getting older and realizing what is crap and what isn't, and seeing what needs changing and what doesn't.  Sometimes I think I'm totally off-base, but sometimes I think I'm totally right.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

On September 13th, at 10 pm (EST), on FX, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia returns!  It's seriously the funniest show on TV.  If you have never seen it, download it or rent it or buy it or somehow watch the first two seasons. (Season 1 and 2 will be released on DVD September 4th).  I don't think you will be disappointed.

There are very few actual "laugh out loud" comedies on tv.  This is one of them.  Truly "must see" tv.
